Winter Fun

On the last day of Winter Break, Robert was ordained a deacon in the Aaronic Priesthood. Bobby performed the ordination, but included in the circle were members of the new bishopric and a newly-ordained priest from the Young Men. It was a moving experience.

Some friends invited us to their place for some archery and zipline fun. Alex was too tired to attend, unfortunately. The other boys had a great time! This family is so laid back and easy going, that it's easy to feel at home in their company.

Here, Robert is taking a turn on the zipline and James is running along beside him.

Now it's James' turn! They spent twice as much time on the zipline than they did shooting arrows.

Matthew got into cardboard construction over the break. This is his suit of armor so far. He also made a series of daggers, a coin bank, a couple cardboard coins, and something that looked like a bunch of boxes taped to each other side by side in height order (because it was). The point of that contraption was to cut through the walls one by one from the shortest box to the tallest box. He ran out of steam before he got to the last box :)

James adores overnight temps well below zero so he can put out a bucket of water one day and have an enormous chunk of ice to play with the next day. Here, he and Matthew are chipping away at one of those blocks before school.

James used a combination of 1) chipping and 2) a stream of hot water to sculpt this ice crown for himself.
