Literacy Strikes Again!

James read his first few words today! It totally, totally surprised him and made him laugh out loud. Thanks, Mom, for the BOB Books that I could keep on-hand for just such an occasion. What a feat! He's so proud of himself!

And it's a relief to me.

From birth to 3 years of age, I watch for autism in my kids.

From speaking until about 3 years old, I watch for color blindness.

From preschool until about 7 years old, I watch for dyslexia.

Of those three concerns, dyslexia is the only one with any real family history/precedent. I'll keep watching, of course, but this development is a very, very good start.
