James has been an attentive host so far, and everyone is still super excited to help with Shadow chores, so we're still in the honeymoon phase of this relationship.
Another confession: sometimes when James is at school and I'm moving around the house doing chores, I'll stop in James' room for a minute to check on Shadow. He's a smart fish. And beautiful. And appreciative of attention (especially if it involves food!). So when James forgets to feed Shadow in the morning before school, I kind of enjoy doing it myself. For now.
