The kids were playing outside when Matthew stepped on something that wounded him. Usually, Matthew would cry for me to come, but he didn't get a chance. James swooped him up in his arms and carried him all the way around the garden and put him down in a fancy chair. Matthew was really worried because there was a little flap of skin that was loose. No blood, thankfully, or he would have come unglued! James proclaimed that he would be Matthew's servant as long as he was hurt this time. He brought him soft pillows, a blanket, and a crown of ferns:
Then he brought him his favorite chicken. These kids are kinda weird.
It got weirder. Robert made a fern necklace for everyone's favorite chicken, Pecky Coconut:
That's okay, though. All this weirdness was worth it because Matthew's foot recovered nicely in about 10 minutes. He was soon running crazy again. Who knows how long he would have been limping around feeling sorry for himself if I had been the one to care for him :) Yay for brothers!
