We're taking a break for lunch while Wayne creates a custom crossbar for the top of the pen (to help stabilize the top bars and secure the hardware cloth better). It's a very, very, very sturdy structure. Once we put on the top crossbar, we'll apply the last strips of hardware cloth to the sides and top, then put the ladies back inside. The ladies are currently spending time in the garden, enjoying the shelter of the sunflowers:
I had a doozy of a time moving the chickens from the old pen into the garden. They fought me every inch. Silly, untrusting, squacking, flapping biddies. Our other neighbors heard the commotion through their closed windows and came out to see who was tormenting the poor birds. Pbbbsh.
